When is Good Friday in 2022?

Good Friday in 2022 is on the Friday, 10th of April (10/04/2022).

Good Friday is a Christian holiday. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is observed by the Christians spread all over the world. It is falls on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday (Resurrection Sunday) during the Holy Week. It is also called as Viernes Santo i.e. 'Sacred Friday' in Spain, "Holy Friday" in Greece and Karfreitag i.e. 'Sorrowful Friday' in Germany. It is observed as a national holiday in India. The importance behind the Good Fridaycelebration is to spread the message that Christ had to suffer for all of us.

On Good Friday, mostly all the Christians attend a Good Friday service wherein they read the biblical accounts of Jesus' death on the cross (Read Luke 19). They do fasting, prayer and meditation also on this day. However, the term "Good Friday" does not have any mention in the Bible. Good Friday is considered one of the most solemn days of the year in the Christian calendar.

For many non-Christians, Good Friday is a day that marks the death of Jesus whereas for Christians, it is a day when God has gained victory over death and sin by allowing Himself to be crucified and killed.

Good Friday in India

There are the rules of fasting on Good Friday. In this, every person of 14 years or above must abstain from meat (and items made with meat) on Good Friday and every person between the age of 21 and 59 must fast on Good Friday. Good Friday is called "Good" because it led to the Resurrection of Jesus and His victory over death and sin. Some people believe that Good Friday is good because Christ "showed His great love for man and purchased for him every blessing".
