Easter Monday falls on the day after Easter Sunday. It is a holiday in the United Kingdom and in some other countries. It is called the second day of the Octave of Easter in the Western Christianity and it is also the second day of Bright Week in the Eastern Christianity. In the Eastern Orthodox Church and Byzantine Rite Catholic Churches, Easter Monday is called "Bright Monday" or "Renewal Monday".
Easter Monday has a religious importance for Christians, as it is a Christian observance and is the day after Easter Sunday. On Easter Sunday, Jesus Christ was resurrected after 3 days from his crucifixion on Good Friday.
It is celebrated by eating Easter eggs made from chocolate in many countries. In the United Kingdom, egg rolling races are organized as an Easter tradition. As it is a public holiday in the United Kingdom, general offices, business houses, shops and schools remain closed this day.
