Originally, it used to be celebrated as a Christian feast day honoring Christian martyr named Saint Valentine while this day has now being celebrated in almost all the regions across the world as a feast of romance and love.

People usually exchange flowers, gifts, cards, sweets, etc. in order to express their love on this day. Now-a-days is celebrated worldwide regardless of its origin hence it is a day of celebrating love in its sole manner across the world.

Valentine's Day is not a public holiday in any country while it is an official feast day in the Anglican Communion and the Lutheran Church.
